If you were looking for another reason to feel old this week, it was 20 years ago that Carrie Underwood put out “Before He Cheats.” It was on her 2005 Some Hearts album and released to radio in 2006.
She told People it almost didn’t happen. “I remember even when we were talking about recording that song, it was kind of like, ‘Oh, is this too aggressive? Is this too…’” she said. “Because I was like a sweet farm girl on [American Idol] — and I hope that’s who I still am — but it was almost, ‘Maybe we don’t do this song.’”
I remember being surprised by the song coming from that sweet farm girl. Bet she’s glad she went for it!
