A Few Of My Favorite Things

I own every single thing on the list below, and while I might (read: I do) get a little something if you buy the stuff, it wouldn’t be on this page if I didn’t totally love it. Almost everything here would make a great gift — even if it’s just for yourself. 😏 And if you look at this list and notice most of the items have something to do with sleeping, don’t judge — I’m ALL ABOUT comfort when I’m trying to sleep. Here’s what I love about each of these:

You know when you’re trying to cut your dog’s nails, but they’re too dark to see the quick and you’re TERRIFIED you’re going to cut too far and it will hurt them and they’ll bleed everywhere, and you might even have to take them to the vet? Enter this multi-use tool WITH A LIGHT. Actually, two lights. On the nail clipper side, there’s a LED light that points at the nail so you can see exactly where the quick is, even with darker nails, and avoid it. And it has a little plastic cup thingy attached to catch the nail bits you cut off. On the other end is a trimmer so you can cut back the fur on their paws or wherever, and it has a light too. This thing is a life saver. Get yours here.

This pillow saved my neck. That’s not an exaggeration. For a while, I was in almost constant pain, couldn’t turn my head easily, and could not find relief. I spent so much money on ergonomic pillows, and none of them helped. I don’t remember how I found this one, but I’ve been using it for a couple of years now and it’s still the only comfortable way for me to sleep, especially as a side sleeper. Is it pricey? Yeah. Is it worth it? YEAH. Get it here.

I LOVE THIS BLANKET. I’d ordered some other things from this brand (also on this list), and I asked for this blanket for Christmas last year. When I got it, I was so happy — it’s crazy soft, it’s crazy warm, and my dogs also choose it every time. It has held up to them, to being washed regularly, and it’s still just as soft and warm as when I first got it, and the color hasn’t dulled at all. I got purple in Queen size for the bedroom, and the red throw (pictured) but they have TONS of color options. Get it here. You’re welcome.

Listen. I’m old, I’m hot, and I don’t sleep well on a regular night. But one night last summer (SUMMER!), the power went out for no reason right at bedtime. So not only was there no AC, there was no fan, which I use when I’m sleeping both for extra cool and for white noise to block out the sounds of loud neighbors and barking dogs. We got NO sleep in my house because I was hot and because every time the neighbor’s dog barked (which was a LOT), my dog barked. And there was no way around it. While wallowing in my misery, I grabbed my phone and found this fan. It can run on a USB-chargeable battery or on USB power. It can sit on a table or nightstand, or it can expand to be a floor fan. It has 4 speeds, a remote control, and can be stored completely collapsed into the size of the fan head itself, which fits in a carry-on bag or large purse (when I went to sleep lab, the lab tech spotted it in my bag and was DYING to know where I got it). It’s not quite as much white noise as I’d like, but sure it does help in a pinch. Get it here.

When I was putting together my home office/studio, I wanted to include some comfortable seating that could also double as extra sleeping space if I had more guests than could use my guest room. The price of this futon made me think it would probably be terrible, but imagine when my surprise that it actually looks great, is comfortable, and is SOLID. It was easy to put together, it only took a couple of minutes by myself. The center console can be up or down, and it does come with the pillows you can see in the photo, and they’d probably do if there were no other options, but they’re honestly the least useful part of the whole thing. It’s super easy to lay flat to make it a bed, and while I haven’t tried sleeping on it, I have spent an afternoon snuggled up on it with the pooches, and it is very comfy. Get it here.

Here’s how you know I’m old: I will not shut up about this dish rack. I tell EVERYONE about it. If my friends haven’t bought this for themselves, guess what? I might be sending one of these to every one of ’em. Because, you know how most dish racks have to be either vertical or horizontal, depending on which side the drain edge is on? This dish rack is elevated and the tray it sits on has a little movable drain tube that takes the water from the tray to the sink on either the wide side or the narrow end, so you can use it in either direction. AND it expands, a piece of it can slide out over the sink to hold a pot or other bigger dish; the silverware holder can go wherever you want on it, and the plate rack in it can be on whichever end you choose. You see why I get so worked up about a dish rack? Get yours here.

Ok, hear me out. If you’ve ever priced robot vacuums, you know how expensive they can be. And I have two dogs and almost my whole house is carpet, which I plan to replace when the budget allows, but for now, I needed SOMETHING, because I hate vacuuming. Hate it. So I decided to try this one because, as a “renewed” option, it’s “like new” but not new, which means I got it for a great price. This particular version doesn’t allow you to tell it to only clean certain rooms, but that’s really its only drawback. Well, that and the very dramatic “I found a cliff I might fall off” messages, but those are pretty rare. I have mine set on a schedule, so I don’t even have to think about it. It works with Alexa and Google Assistant. It empties itself into the docking station, and even when it runs every day and picks up what two shedding dogs are putting down, I only have to empty the docking station once a month or so. I’m a year and a half in, and it’s still working great. Highly recommend. Get it here.

If you have a short-haired breed, you know they get chilly in colder weather. Medley has a good selection of hoodies and sweaters (yep, I’m THAT dog mom), but this is my favorite, and she gets so many compliments on it. It’s a pullover hoodie that has enough good stretch that it’s not hard to put on her. As you can see, she has the one with the heart, but there’s also a reindeer option. She’s worn this one through two winters already and it’s withstood her little tornado energy and frequent washing. Get yours here.

I sleep hot, so I keep it SUPER cold in my house at night. I got these comforters and duvet covers, which are the same brand as the blanket above, and they’re just the right weight for all year. It keeps me warm when I need it, but doesn’t make me hot. It withstands the dogs, and is nice and soft and light. I got the purple for my bedroom(of course)(see the duvet cover in the pillow photo), and pictured is the teal in the guest room, but they have a good range of colors. Pick your favorite comforter here and duvet cover here.

These sheets are SO. SOFT. In fact, I got them in dark grey for my bed, and I liked them so much I also got them in spa blue for the guest room (pictured). They keep me cool, they’re comfortable to sleep on, and a really good price for how great they are. They have lasted me a few years already, so I’m more than happy with them. Get them in a big range of colors here.

When I moved into my new place and left my kitchen island behind at the old one, I bought a counter height table for the new kitchen. And then realized my stools were accidentally left behind at the old place (and I later found out the buyer threw them out after I asked for them but that’s a rant for another day). You may know this, but chairs, especially counter height ones, are expensive. I spent DAYS looking at options and I kept coming back to these, and I’m so glad I finally bit the bullet and got them. They’re so cute, they look great in my kitchen, they’re very comfortable, and they were easy to put together. And the price, frankly, for two counter height chairs that look this good? It’s a great price, even with the added shipping cost (sorry, this one’s not Prime). They also come in sets of 4 for an even better price per chair, and have some vibrant color choices. I get SO MANY compliments on them. Check them out here.

Did I originally buy this clock out of spite? Yes. But I love it, and I’m not sorry. I got the black version (which is currently unavailable but hopefully they’ll restock it soon) when I broke up with some not-really-friends and needed to replace a clock one of them had given me. It looked great on the red walls of my old house, and still looks great on the grey walls of my current house. And I’ve had it for about 3 1/2 years now and I’ve only had to change the AA battery once. I just love the look of these, don’t you? Get yours here.

I know not everyone has the budget for a 65″ TV. I saved up for this one and did tons of research before buying it, and I have to say, I’m really happy with this. Keep your eye on this listing too, because the prices change all the time, and you can get a super good deal on it. It does come in other sizes too, if 65″ is too much TV or you just want to pay less. The picture on it is really good — doesn’t Josh Mankiewicz look like he’s sitting in my living room?! Check it out here.

I get some commission for each of these items, and least some of it will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The rest is definitely going for dog food and treats. So thanks for your purchase!
